We decided to spend our anniversary weekend in Boston (one of our favorite weekend getaways), and it just so happened that the Red Sox were playing the Yankees at Fenway!! If you are a fan of either of these teams, or just a fan of baseball in general, you know this is a match up you don't want to miss!!
OK, little disclosure here. Yes, I like the Red Sox. Yes, my blog profile says I am a Red Sox fan. Yes, I love watching games at Fenway. All this is true. However, when the Red Sox play the Yankees I gotta cheer for the Yankees. I was a die hard Yankees fan for a long time, and I just can't bring myself to NOT root for them against their arch rivals!! I know, this is all very unnatural... how can I like the Yankees AND the Red Sox? That just doesn't happen! Well, I do! End of story!
So anyway, we headed to Fenway and watched a great game! The hubs rooted for the Sox and I rooted for the Yankees. And the Yankees won! We enjoyed some beer and hot dogs at the park (gotta do it!) and then walked back to our hotel after the game to work off some of the calories.

After a wonderfully long nap, we realized our nap was a little too long and a little too wonderful because we slept through our dinner reservations at Top of the Hub! Oh well. Naps are precious these days and I would definitely trade a fancy dinner for a good nap! So it was on to plan B which consisted of walking across the road from our hotel and having dinner at 5 Napkin Burger. :) Now, you might not think so, but our dinner was actually really good! The burger was delish and the guacamole and chips appetizer we got was amazing (who knew a burger place could make such good guac!!). After dinner we grabbed some cheesecake to bring back to the room and just chilled and relaxed. We slept in on Sunday and slowly made our way home, It was glorious!
I love getting away for a night or 2 for our anniversary. When we were first married, we said we would always go on vacation to celebrate our anniversary. Well, now that we have 2 kids that's not quite so easy. But we usually do manage to get away for at least a night. Some of our favorite spots are Boston, Montreal, and Lake Placid. What about you? What are some of your favorite spots for a quick getaway? How do you typically celebrate your wedding anniversary?
Great shots of the yard and Happy Anniversary.

DeleteHappy belated anniversary! I'm so glad you had a nice getaway! We love to go somewhere for our anniversary. Lately we skip away for the weekend to the beach (Myrtle in SC) or Asheville, NC. Both are relatively close.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I would like to plan a trip to Myrtle Beach...maybe next year! Oh, the Outer Banks too!
