Friday faves-Planners, S'mores & Starbucks

Friday!   I am so happy to see you again! August on Saturday....not so much!  Don't get me wrong, I am ready for some fall weather (it was 95 here on Wednesday and that is just too hot for me), but I am not ready for summer itself to end.  We have a very busy August planned so I know it is going to speed right by.  Then once September hits, my baby goes to kindergarten (insert tears)!  It's like I blinked and 5 years passed.  :(

But...this is my Friday Favorites post so no more mommy tears!

Favorite #1:  My new planner
I LOVE this Erin Condren planner.  It is way more than I normally would spend on a planner, but it.is.awesome.  Seriously.   I need a good planner this year now that we will have Nick's kindergarten schedule, Alec's preschool schedule, and all the regular family, doctor, and dentist stuff.   Oh, and did I mention I am coaching Nick's soccer team this year?  Yeah.  So there's all that scheduling stuff I need to remember too.

Favorite #2:  Indoor camping and S'mores
The kids had a blast playing in the tent we set up in the living room and eating some delicious oven baked s'mores.

Favorite #3:  Front yard project!
Pretty much since we moved into this house in 2012 I have wanted my husband to put in nice flower beds and retaining wall out front.  Well, this weekend it's happening (or at least it's getting started).  I can't wait to post pics when it's done!

Favorite #4: This fan

Random, right?   Well I'll tell you, this is the best $19 I have spent in a long time!  If it is abnormally hot at your desk like it is at mine, get this!  It gives off just the right amount of air...not so much that your hair is blowing all over the place, but just enough to give you a refreshing breeze!

Favorite #5:  New Starbucks drinks
I seem to find a new Starbucks favorite every week!  This week it's the Iced Peach Green Tea Lemonade AND the Iced Mango Black Tea Lemonade.  Sooooo good!

Enjoy your weekend friends!  Are you doing something exciting or just relaxing?

Easy Peach Muffins

It's Tasty Tuesday friends and today I wanted to share with you my recipe for super easy peach muffins.
To tell the truth, I rarely eat peaches.  Don't get me wrong, I love the smell of peach...give me a peach Yankee Candle and I'm in heaven. And back in my college days I was oblessed with Bath & Body Works peach nectar body spray.  But for some reason,  I just never really have the urge to eat anything peach.  Well this week in my field goods bag (a weekly delivery I get of fruits and veggies from local farms...they deliver to us at work...so cool!) there was a big bag of peaches.  So off to the Pinterest boards I went!  But in the end, I decided to just tweak my go-to muffin recipe.

Easy Peach Muffins
Makes 12 large muffins

2 medium peaches, diced
2 cups of Bisquick mix
1/3 c sugar
1 egg
2/3 c milk
2 Tbsp vegetable oil
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla
Pat of butter

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Dice up your peaches and set them aside in a small bowl.  Sprinkle some sugar over top and let them sit while you complete the other steps.

Mix together dry ingredients in a large bowl (Bisquick, sugar, cinnamon).

In a separate bowl, whisk together your wet ingredients (milk, oil, egg, vanilla).

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix together.   I also mixed in a pat of butter.
Gently fold in the diced peaches.

Divide batter evenly among greased muffin cups.  Now, here is the very important part that makes these super tasty...the topping!

Topping:
2 Tbsp sugar
A shake or 2 of cinnamon

Mix the cinnamon and sugar together and sprinkle over the top of each muffin (trust me, you'll be glad you did).

Pop in the oven and cook until golden brown (15-20 minutes).

Enjoy!

Weekending!

Happy Monday!  Is there such a thing?!  Anyway, this morning I thought I would share our weekend with you AND a super quick and easy dessert recipe.   Honestly,  I'm not sure this even qualifies as a recipe, but it's too yummy not to share!

We had a pretty laid back weekend.  Saturday was spent eating way too much food (hello Chili's AND Sonic in the same day!) and taking the kiddos to see Minions.  Such a cute movie!  In between we ran some errands for the big landscaping project we are doing out front.  The kids found ways to amuse themselves at Home Depot.

Robot arm!

Sunday was cleaning and laundry and camping in a tent in the middle of the living room.

Do you have a tent in the middle of your living room? Well, we often do! We had big plans to go bike riding and play outside, but it was just too hot (at least by NY standards).  And of course when you are camping, you must have s'mores! Which leads me to the recipe...  So, currently be don't have a fire pit outside and like I said, it was too hot for a fire last night anyway. So I improvised and did oven s'mores!  These are literally like the simplest things ever and were so so good! All you need is your regular s'mores ingredients, a baking sheet, and an oven!

Preheat your oven to 450. Place your bottom square graham cracker on a baking sheet with one marshmallow. Bake for about 3 minutes until your marshmallow looks nice and toasty. Take out of the oven, put on your chocolate and your top graham cracker piece. VOILA! Instant deliciousness!
Just be careful though, that marshmallow is hot!

Kid approved!!

Be sure to stop back here tomorrow for another dessert recipe.... Peach Muffins!!!  YUM
Have a great week friends!

Friday Faves-Make me smile!

Happy Friday friends!  I don't know about you,  but I am happy this week is over.  It's been an emotional week for me.  It seems like every time I log onto Facebook or check my email, there is nothing but bad news. Sadness, illness,  people dying.  People that are young and vibrant and full of life. People that have children that need them and parents that love them.  Good people that have been taken far too soon.
My heart has been so heavy this week.

They say laughter is the best medicine and I believe it's true.  So for today's Friday Five, I am sharing some things with you that absolutely cracked me up!!  I hope they will bring a smile to your face too!  :)
Alert:  Picture 3 contains a naughty word.  If you are easily offended, you may want to skip over it.

I was literally crying at the next 2 because I was laughing so hard.  I don't even know why I find them so funny but OMG I do!! Keep in mind the last one is from a kindergartner.

Did any of them make you laugh?  Or at least crack a smile?

Friday Faves!

It's that time of the week...Friday Favorites! Let's just dive right in!

Number 1:  Bath time
I used to dread bathtime, but as the boys get older, I like it more and more.  It's nice to have some one on one time with each of them where we can chat and laugh (even if it is only for 10 minutes).  And how could I not enjoy it when this much fun is going on?!

Number 2:  New jewelry
A couple weeks ago my friend invited me to her online Paparazzi Accessories party.  I had never heard of Paparazzi but thought I might as well check it out.  I'm so glad I did. Every piece of jewelry they sell is $5.00! Yes, $5.00!  Obviously it's costume jewelry but a lot of it is really cute and on trend.  I wore these 2 pieces to work this week and got a ton of compliments!

Number 3:  My newest bee picture
Yes, it might be kind of weird,  but I like taking pictures of bumble bees.

Number 4 and 5: Getting outside and family bike rides
The weather the past 2 nights has been absolutely gorgeous! Sunny, upper 70s and low humidity.   Just perfect.   We've been eating dinner on our deck and going for family bike rides/walks.  It's so nice to get outside, get some exercise, and tire the kids out!

There you have it!  Now on to the weekend! Saturday we'll  be heading north to visit the inlaws for the day.  We don't really have anything else planned,  but I would like to take the kids to see the new Minions movie and hit the Farmers Market in Sunday.  What are your weekend plans?
